Spanish Poetry Competition

Jaret A. and Anayetzi B. participated in the Area 10 Spanish Poetry Competition on Friday, May 22nd. Anayetzi won 3rd place for the intermediate grades. Congratulations to both of you for your outstanding performance!!!!

Security Guard

We would like to welcome our new Security Guard Anthony Garcia to the Gunsaulus Family. We would also like to thank Ms. Mondragon, the Youth Outreach Worker, for helping out in our time of need.

Art

Thank you to Mr. Waldron for scheduling the visit with professional muralist Hector Duarte. Thank you Hector Duarte for speaking with 6-8th grade students about your work and answering students' questions. Mr. Waldron will host a Gunsaulus Art Show on June 3rd in room 305.

Real Men Read

Thanks to Mr. Glickman, Mr. Giambrone, and Mr. Brannigan for their commitment to the students at Gunsaulus. The kids will miss you! You have done an outstanding job and are outstanding role models!!!

High School Investigation

During May 26th-29th 8th grade students will have the opportunity to visit the high school they will attend. Students who will be attending Kelly and Curie will be going with their 8th grade teacher. All other students are encouraged to go with their parents to get a sneak preview of their high school.

Awareness

Thanks to Officer Charmaine for visiting Gunsaulus and speaking to students about precautionary measures to use while on the Internet and Teen Dating Violence.

Library Books

Students and staff please return any borrowed books back to the Ms. McMath ASAP. If books are not returned or they are damaged there will be a replacement charge.

3rd grade Publication

Congrats to Ms. Portillo and her 3rd grade classroom!! The students in this classroom came up with a story as a class while visiting 826CHI on a field trip. The name of the story they created was “Triple Banana Split’s Evil Plan to Destroy Dynamite” and was published in a book titled The 826CHI Compendium. This book can be purchased online at www.826chi.org or at The Boring Store located at 1331 N. Milwaukee Ave. Great Job!!!

Girl’s Soccer Games

Congratulations to the Girl’s Soccer team for making it to the Playoffs! The first game was Saturday, May 23rd at 9am at Gray Field and unfortunately they were defeated.

Girl’s Fast Pitch

Gunsaulus finished their season at 500. We lost to Davis in the Playoffs. It was a great season!!!

Guardia de seguridad

La familia Gunsaulus da la bienvenida a nuestro nuevo Guardia de Seguridad Anthony Garcia. También nos gustaría darle las gracias a la Sra. Mondragon del programa Youth Outreach por ayudarnos en nuestro tiempo de necesidad.

Gracias al Sr. Waldron por programar la visita con el muralista profesional Héctor Duarte. Gracias a Héctor Duarte por hablar con los estudiantes de 6to-8vo grado sobre su trabajo y contestar preguntas de los estudiantes. Sr. Waldron patrocinara una Exposición de Arte en Gunsaulus el 3 de junio en el salón 305.

Hombres Si Leen

Gracias al Sr. Glickman, Sr. Giambrone, y Sr. Brannigan por su compromiso a los estudiantes de Gunsaulus. ¡Los niños los van extrañar! ¡Ustedes ha hecho un trabajo sobresaliente y son un gran modelo!!!

Investigación de Secundaria

Durante el 26-29 de mayo estudiantes de 8vo grado tendrán la oportunidad de visitar la secundaria que ellos asistirán. Los estudiantes que asistirán Kelly y Curie irán con su maestro de 8º  grado. Todos los demás estudiantes, los animamos para ir con sus padres para obtener una vista previa de su escuela secundaria.

Conocimiento

Gracias al Oficial Charmaine por visitar Gunsaulus y hablar a los estudiantes acerca de las medidas de precaución para el uso del Internet y violencia domestica de adolescentes.

Biblioteca

Estudiantes y personal, por favor de devolver cualquier libro prestado a la Sra. McMath lo antes posible. Si los libros no se devuelven o están dañados, habrá un cargo de reemplazo.

Juegos de fútbol para el equipo de niñas

¡Felicidades al equipo de fútbol de niñas por llegar a los Playoffs! El primer juego fue el sábado, 23 de mayo a las 9am en el campo de juego Gary.

Jeogos de Fast Pitch para el equipo de niñas

Gunsaulus termino la temporada de Fast Pitch en 500. Perdimos a Davis en los Playoffs. ¡Fue una gran temporada!
